African American History Month Guest Lecture

February 11 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm CST

Join us in Bernheim Hall for a special celebration of Mobile’s African American heritage.

Presented in partnership with the Dora Franklin Finley African American Heritage Trail, we will welcome guest speaker Karlos Finley, DFFAAHT President. No matter your race, ethnicity or religion, you can fully immerse yourself. Explore the history of the city’s beginnings, Africatown (Kossula, Gumpa, and others), the Creole Decolor, the oldest churches in the state of Alabama. Gain a taste of Mobile’s rich gumbo of ethnicity as revealed by its past. Develop an understanding of the significant contributions made by African Americans and the roles they have played in Mobile History.
